French Golden Apple Pie Bars with a Vanilla Glaze
Core, peel and thinly slice the apples and place in a bowl. Add the brown suage, sugar, flour, lemon peel, cinnamon, and nutmeg to apples and stir. Take a 9X13 pan and spray with non stick spray. Put one pie crust on one half and the other on the other half and pressed in the middle and up the side to form the pan. Add apple mixture. In another bowl mix with a fork, the butter, flour and sugar. Spread that mixture on top of the apples in the pan. Bake 350 for 1 hour. Remove bars from oven and let cool. When completely cooled mix the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk (just enought milk to make it a glaze) in a bowl and dizzle on top of cooled pie bars. Put the apple pie bars in the fridge to cool for 2-4 hours. Cut into 24 bars and serve cold or warm in microwave.
