1. Peel, halve, and core apples.
2. Put canola oil in a hot 9 x 13–inch skillet, and over low heat cook apples cut-side down for about 12 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
3. Combine blue cheese and chopped dried figs (or raisins), add to the pan and heat just enough to melt and warm the mixture.
4. Scoop mixture into apples cut side up. Serve warm.
